26 Apr Do you procrastinate?
The thought seems to come out of nowhere, often referred to as “came out of the blue.” Sometimes it is a direct knowing, an idea… sometimes it is a thinking, something on your mind that you know you need to do, but haven’t got around to yet.
Between the idea and the action there is often a fear-based block, this block is often referred to as procrastination.
The energy of procrastination is synonymous with avoidance. And this avoidance is associated with fear-based, subconscious behaviour. It could be fear of making a mistake that leads to procrastination or it could be your parents are classic procrastinators, so you have picked up the habit subconsciously and haven’t yet realised there is an upgrade to pausing all the time. The upgrade is simple and it should follow a natural flow that we often call “flow state” or “in the zone.” That is when there is no disconnection between the being and the doing – from your mind flows an idea or a thought and it flows directly into action.
Next time you pause to procrastinate, I.e., avoid, look at why and what you are avoiding. If you need more time to contemplate on the worthiness of an action, then do so with awareness, not with avoidance. I’d like to acknowledge there is a difference between wondering and procrastination, between day dreaming and procrastination, between contemplation and procrastination etc. procrastination is avoiding. It is wise to pause and reflect if you don’t know what to do, but if you do have that knowing, what are you waiting for?
